Bernadette L. Peters was born Bernadette. Lazzara, born in Ozone Park Queens New York 28 February 1948 is a songwriter/singer and a writer of children's books. Her professional career spans over five decades, and encompasses musical theatre, television, solo concerts, and recording. She was nominated and won 3 Drama Desk Awards. 4 of her Broadway cast albums on which she has starred have been awarded Grammy Awards. Peters first performed in the theatre as a child and then an actress in her teenage years during the 1960s and in film and television in the 1970s. The public praised her for this first work, as well as her roles on The Muppet Show The Carol Burnett Show and in other TV shows and also for her performances in films such as Silent Movie The Jerk Pennies from Heaven and Annie. The actress returned to Broadway in the 1980s, in which she was the most famous Broadway actor for the next thirty years. In addition to recording six solo albums along with a few singles and numerous album of cast as performing frequently in her own concert. Peters also works as a film and TV actor who has been awarded once and nominated in three Emmy Awards.
